Residential Interior Design
María Vélez develops residential interior design and decoration projects in Málaga and on the Costa del Sol, tailoring each proposal to the architecture, how the home is used, its current condition and the way its owners wish to live in it.
A home is defined not only by its size or architecture, but by the way it will be lived in.
Every home calls for different decisions
A home is not designed solely around its size, style or a list of furniture. What matters is where it is, how it is built, who will live there, how often it will be used, which elements are already in place and which parts need to change.
A villa requires careful management of the relationship between larger-scale spaces, different floors and outdoor areas.
An apartment requires precision so that the layout, storage and furniture all work to make the most of the space.
A new-build home may be technically complete yet still need personality, lighting, furniture or certain changes before it is ready to move into.
And a second home brings a different consideration: many decisions must be made while the owner is elsewhere.
That is why two homes may require completely different solutions even when they are similar in size.

Primary Residence
The same method, different priorities
| Type of home | Main priority |
|---|---|
| Second Home | Distance and management |
| New Build | Personalisation |
| Villa | Scale and continuity |
| Apartment | Precision and use of space |
| Primary Residence | Routines and evolution |
These priorities are not rigid rules: a villa may also be a second home, an apartment may be a new build and, of course, a primary residence may require a turnkey interior design service.
The categories help us to understand the starting point; they do not limit the project.
Size does not determine the quality of a project. It changes the decisions that need to be resolved.
Which service might your home need?
The type of home provides the context. The service depends on what needs to change and the level of support you would like throughout the process.

Decoration Projects
When the architecture works well and the home needs styling, furniture, lighting, textiles, art and more.
Interior Design Projects
When fixed elements, layout, materials, lighting, joinery, kitchens, bathrooms and more need to be addressed

Two homes of the same type may require completely different services.
